Garrett and Madison met while Madison was on a family vacation in Las Vegas to celebrate her stepbrother and cousin turning 21! Garrett lived in Vegas, and they first crossed paths at the Carousel Bar just outside The Plaza Hotel, where Madison was staying. Both had a couple of drinks in them — it’s Vegas, after all — and were feeling a little liquid confidence. Garrett was sitting alone at the bar when Madison and her cousins walked up. Looking over, Madison noticed a guy with a beard and a mullet sitting by himself and thought, “Why does that guy look so lonely and sad?!” She laughed to herself and sat down at the bar, ordering drinks with her cousins. Then, she told the bartender about her “crush” — little did she know that Garrett and the bartender were acquaintances. The bartender told Garrett that Madison thought he was cute, so Garrett (who claimed he never did this as a Vegas local) bought drinks for Madison and her cousins. The girls raised their glasses in thanks. A few moments later, one of Garrett’s buddies showed up, and Madison waved him over, saying, “You should come over here!” They all started chatting, and Madison was instantly captivated by Garrett’s eyes as he got closer — she couldn’t stop looking. Time flew by as they talked and laughed. They walked along Fremont Street, where Garrett referred to Madison as his “future wife” to a few people he knew, to her cousins, and even her grandma! They stayed up all night, not wanting the evening to end. The next morning, Garrett texted Madison, hoping she’d respond — and she was hoping the same. They spent the next six nights together before Madison’s trip ended. They dated for a year long-distance, traveling back and forth between Omaha and Las Vegas almost every month to see each other. Both agreed they wouldn’t do long-distance longer than a year and made the decision that one of them would move. Together, they made pros and cons lists on a yellow legal pad and decided Madison would move to Vegas! They dated another year, creating a beautiful home and showering their dog Gio with love, before Garrett proposed on June 13, 2025, in Jamaica.
