Our Story

Madison and Brandon met in 2020 while attending law school at George Washington University, during a time when the world looked very different. With classes fully remote, their paths first crossed through the Criminal Law Brief, a student publication founded by Madison. What began as a professional connection quickly turned into something more after Madison took a leap of faith and sent Brandon her phone number via email. That message sparked several months of texting and long-distance conversations, laying the foundation for what was to come. A few months into dating, while walking along a quiet beach on Long Island, Brandon told Madison he loved her, a moment that made it clear they were building something lasting. After graduation, their journey continued through new challenges and new cities. Madison began her career as a prosecutor at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in 2021 while Brandon completed his final year of law school. The two spent a year navigating long distance, balancing demanding schedules, late-night phone calls, and unwavering support for one another. When Brandon joined the Manhattan DA’s Office in 2022, they were finally reunited — stronger for everything they had already weathered together. Along the way, they created a home and a family together. As of January 2025, Madison and Brandon are the proud parents of two kitties, Mars and Venus, who keep life entertaining, and they lovingly carry with them the memory of Schnikey, their beloved first cat, who will always hold a special place in their hearts. Madison has helped to foster a newfound love of travel in Brandon over the years. Since their first big trip in 2022 they've explored the world together, making memories in Alaska, France, Hawaii, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and several Caribbean islands, as well as adventures closer to home in some of their favorite national parks — including Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Acadia, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Each trip brought new stories and only deepened their bond. On December 1, 2024, Brandon asked Madison to marry him at Lost Gulch Lookout in Boulder, Colorado, Madison's hometown. While preparing to propose, he nearly slipped on the ice (a reminder that love sometimes comes with a little risk), but kept his footing long enough to get down on one knee. Madison said yes, of course. A bit quietly at first just for Brandon, and then a little louder for the family members on Facetime, at Brandon's request. It was perfectly imperfect. They finished the night celebrating their love with family at the Flagstaff House Restaurant, and the rest is history. They are so excited to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people who have supported them every step of the way.
