We’re getting married!

We met our senior year of college, in Charleston, South Carolina; Grant went to The Citadel and Madison was at the College of Charleston. Neither of us were looking for a relationship when we met, both of us had big plans after graduation. Grant was about to commission as an Officer in the Army and Madison had plans to spend the summer working in Tanzania. Though we weren't looking for love, love is exactly what we found together (although Madison was a little stubborn to admit it at first). From our first date on we didn't spend much more than a few days apart from each other. We immediately bonded over our love of good food and live music. Our competitive personalities, core values and life dreams sealed the deal. After graduation, Madison was off to Tanzania and our love was tested through its first round of long distance. Thankfully, 3 months apart flew by, but things didn't get easier from there. Grant began his training in Georgia and Madison moved back to Charleston, and so began our 6-hour weekend drives between Fort Benning,GA and Charleston,SC. After 8 months of back and forth, we finally decided to move in together! We adopted our sweet Rooney from the shelter on base and soon after the 3 of us made our big move to Alaska! We loaded up a UHaul with everything we owned and drove 5,000 miles north through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Glacier National Park, Banff National Park in Canada, and the entire historic Alcan Highway! Once we settled in came our toughest test yet. Grant was sent on an 8 month deployment to Iraq and Syria. We made it through weeks without phone calls, a missile attack on Grant's base, and a two month Covid extension. Once he finally returned, Grant asked her to marry him on top of a mountain in Denali National Park! Although we'll surely move many times, we've found the feeling of "home" with one another. We couldn't be more thrilled to begin our marriage celebrating with all of you!
