How We Met (Madison’s POV)

May 2023

On my third bartending shift at a local restraunt, I saw this tall, handsome man walk in. He was wearing a ball cap, a white tee, blue jeans that were cuffed, and tan vans. I thought wow, that is one attractive man. Lucky for me, he walked up to the bar. I asked him what he would like to drink, and he said beer. He asked which I recommended to which I offered him a few samples. He decided to go with the Sierra Nevada “hazy little thing”. After a night of casually talking, it was time to close up. I had several other customers- all of whom were drunk. Zac kindly helped get them out the door, and I picked up his check. He left his name, number, and a quote. I was disappointed. I had vowed never to text a man who didn’t have the respect for me or courage to ask me on a date. Then, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Back in walks Zac. He introduced himself to me and told me, “I’m sure you’ve seen my check by now. I wanted to formally introduce myself. My name is Zac Peacock, and I would love to take you on a date. I didn’t want you to feel pressured to say yes, so I left you my number. I’m only in town for a week, but text me if you will let me take you out.” I think I waited about 45 minutes and well… the rest was history!

How We Met (Zac's POV)

May 2023

About mid May I was told I’m going to a course in Huntsville Alabama. After arriving I wanted to find a place to grab a burger and a beer that was kind of a local place with a good view and a good atmosphere to relax before the course started. I found a place called Probation that had a 2nd floor with opening garage doors. I stepped up to the bar to order and met the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I really wasn’t sure how to open up a conversation at first so I did my best to start a conversation asking her recommendations for beer and a good burger. We had fallen into conversation after a couple of beers getting to know each other and discussing interests. After hours of talking and distracting her from work, Probation was closing. Madison had brought my check to me with an enticing smile. I thought to myself self I need to ask her out, but I was being shy and I didn’t want to put her on the spot. So, I “bright” Idea to leave my number on the check. I got up and went the restroom realizing more needed to be done. I began to hype myself up in the mirror and decided I’m going to go out there and ask her on a date. I walked out of the bathroom and straight over to her shacking in my boots. I extended my hand and said, “I would like to formally introduce myself. I’m Zac Peacock, I would love to take you to dinner. I wrote my number on the check because I didn’t want you to feel pressured to taking it down. I had a great night talking with you.” The next evening we ate dinner at Rosie’s Cantina, then we moved to …. Blevins Gap Overlook to see the lights of the town, eventually going out to her grandmother’s land dancing with fireflies lighting up the dark.

The Grand Canyon

After a few days of knowing Zac, he invited me to go with him to the Grand Canyon. He told me he always wanted to go but never had the opportunity. He asked me if I would want to backpack through it with him. I replied, absolutely! Now, keep in mind, I had never been backpacking before; however, that Christmas, I asked for a boat load of backpacking gear. I had no idea why- I just thought it sounded fun and wanted to do it. God knew the real reason why... I would meet my future husband and he would ask me to backpack through the Grand Canyon! Zac had me enter my information, and he bought my ticket. For the next three weeks, we facetimed every night. Three days before leaving, I told my parents about Zac and that I would be leaving for two weeks. I think my mom had a heart attack. She literally thought I would never return, and my dad wanted his commanding generals personal phone number.... yep, we all know that sounds like Mike! Our time in the Grand Canyon and surrounding area was short, but it showed me the things I needed to know about Zac. He is driven, resourceful, smart, hard working, Godly, and intentional. After we finished our trip, Zac returned to Huntsville with me to meet my family. They ended up loving him. My dad and Zac even twinned by the end of Zac's trip in cowboy hats!

Where We're At Now

As many of you know, we got married December 12, 2024. Since then, we have moved in together, travelled to Greece with Madison's family, spent the summer with Mavric and Pepper (Zac's kids/Madison's step-kids), are planning an awesome wedding to celebrate with you all, and are looking towards moving to Germany in 2027. We have had an innumerable amount of prayers answered- one of the biggest being Mavric moving in with them for the majority of the time! We also rescued a dog named Jax who is best friends with Mavric. We know we keep saying it, but we cannot wait for you all to be in Colorado Springs with us so soon!
