In October of 2015, the stars aligned perfectly for Kurtis and Madison’s paths to cross. After a few days of chatting, they shared their first date at Yates Cider Mill (where they bought several gallons of cider before walking the mile long river walk). Working up an appetite, they headed to Vincetta Garage to enjoy baked potato pizza with Bell’s Soft Parade, where they quickly realized they had a connection unlike any other before. As the years passed Kurtis and Madison developed a bond that was inseparable. They developed their relationship through growth, challenges and exciting experiences (including but not limited to, seeing Wicked on broadway, walking the Brooklyn Bridge, attempting a high ropes corse and moving to Denver!).
August 2017, Madison and Kurtis began their biggest adventure yet - take their chances in Denver, Colorado! They applied to jobs, found new opportunities, and hit the road. Two and a half years and many miles of mountain driving later, Madison and Kurtis made Colorado their home.
Kurtis proposed to Madison at Confluence Park in Denver on January 4, 2020. The sun was shining bright and it was a mild and beautiful, Colorado day. After hiking red rocks and relaxing by the water at Sloan’s Lake, they made one final stop to walk along the river. The park was busy, and Madison could tell Kurtis was nervous. Once they came to the bridge and they were alone, Kurtis got down on one knee and asked Madison to marry him! Surprised and elated, she said YES, OF COURSE!
After 3 amazing years, Madison and Kurt were presented with the opportunity to keep their jobs and work remote full time. This made the decision to move back easy. In December 2020, you can catch them at their 1926 home in the historic University District of Detroit!
