Maddie's Side of the Story: I first saw Kaden when he was riding his bike through a neighborhood in Newberg with his mom. I was with my cousin in the car at the time and after I turned to her and said "oh he's cute" she told me she went to high school with him and that he was a cancer survivor like me. I added him on Instagram the next day and a couple weeks later when he added on his story that he needed prayers for his upcoming scans, I slid into his DM's to tell him that I went through a similar experience and that I would pray for him. He asked for my number to hear more about my story and after our first date, I knew he was the person I could see myself spending the rest of my life with!
On June 4th, we went to Jerry Trimble Helicopters in McMinnville to go on a helicopter ride that Kaden had planned as an early college graduation gift for me. We flew to Wrigley Winery in Sheridan, where we got to taste some wine and enjoy a delicious charcuterie board while looking at the gorgeous view of the valley. It was a beautiful day so Kaden asked me to take a picture with him with the view behind us. He had me hold his phone to take the picture and he turned to me and asked "Did you like the surprise?" and after I said yes he told me that he had one more surprise for me. He got down on one knee and as he began to ask me if I would marry him, I said "Yes" before he could finish. After we got back, we went to a very fancy place for lunch to celebrate our engagement. We were both so excited and even though I had a feeling that he was going to propose that day (even though he doesn't believe me), it was the best day of my life!
