Personally, whenever I travel I search on Momondo (linked below), Booking.com, or Hopper for cheap flights! It is best to book about 5-7 weeks before you plan on arriving. Keep in mind that if you book through some of these sites the cancelation policies will differ.

House Or Rental
Typically when traveling as a family or with a group of people to save money, we book a house or condo through Airbnb. This is a great way to provide everyone with their own space especially if you want to avoid the hotel scene or stay on a particular side of town.

This app saves you money on car rental. It is similar to airbnb with your car. You rent directly from the person - not a company.
