Although we have different opinions on how we met, we can both agree is was during our time at Benedictine University. Kyle played baseball and I played soccer there. We would see each other around campus- in Krasa, in the gym, or out at parties - but we didn't really know each other that well. It wasn't until a few years later when Kyle transferred to ISU and I transferred to NIU that we actually started talking. Kyle posted a story on Instagram of him front row at a Luke Combs concert. I, being a HUGE Luke Combs fan, DM'd him saying how jealous I was. We talked constantly for a few weeks after that until he asked me to be his girlfriend a month later. I never would have imagined that DM was going to lead us where we are today but I am SO glad it did.
I begged Kyle to let us book a photo shoot to get cute couple photos taken for months but I finally gave up asking when it seemed like he wasn't going to budge. A few weeks later Kyle told me he booked a Christmas photoshoot for us the day after Thanksgiving. My first thought was no way - the day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday and anyone who knows me knows I take Black Friday VERY serious. But then I realized I didn't even care because I never in a million years thought he would agree to do a cute photoshoot let alone take the initiative to book one himself! (This is the first reason why I should've known something was up.) Fast-forward to 11/29/19. It's 9am and we're getting ready to leave the house to drive down south for the photoshoot and Kyle has 2 Bud Lights in his hand. (Cue 2nd reason why I should've known something was up.) At first I was confused and told him to put them back but then he hits me with the "if you're making me do this, I at least deserve a few beers before". We didn't have time to argue so I just rolled my eyes and started driving. We pull up to the barn where we were getting our pictures taken at and everything seemed normal. We spent about 20 minutes taking the cute typical couple photos you always see on social media. Then Kyle hands me a note and the photographer tells him to stand behind me while I read it. (Cue the 3rd reason why I should've known something was up) I start reading the note and I realize halfway through that he wrote the note and incorporated all of our favorite Luke Combs songs throughout it. He ended the note with the lyric " Dear today- maybe you should call our mama, have a drink with our old man, quit wastin' our sweet time and put that diamond on her hand". I turned around and he was down on one knee already and asked if I would marry him. Hands down the easiest decision I have ever made.
