Once upon a swipe, Madi and David met in the most 2020s way possible—on Hinge! Three glorious years ago these two locked eyes (through screens) and set up their first date. It was a Tuesday night and they headed to Oku, a trendy sushi spot in Downtown Charlotte. Sparks flew, sushi rolls disappeared, and it was love at first sight—or at least it was for Madi! David, ever the smooth operator, played it cool, keeping Madi waiting for that first kiss. Gentleman move? Definitely. Effective? 100%—Madi fell hard! After a magical first date, David upped the ante with date 2, inviting Madi to a G-Eazy concert (Yes G-Eazy, the romantic icon of our time.) By the third date, Madi had already met David’s sister, who was packing her bags to move to San Diego. Spoiler alert: David’s family approved! The couple faced their first big test with long-distance love due to David’s work travels, but instead of growing apart, they only grew closer. Fast forward to their next challenge—a cross-country move to San Diego. They aced that test too, solidifying that they could tackle anything together (even figuring out which coast has the better tacos). On January 8th 2023, David pulled off the ultimate romantic move by proposing to Madi at the breathtaking cliffs of Torrey Pines in San Diego. Then, just this past year, they hit another milestone: buying their first home together in Charleston! Between unpacking boxes and wrangling their two adorable cats, Fitz and Matilda these two are practically pros at adulting now.
