Our Story

It all started with a swipe right and a Super Like (Njyhalo had one and used it exclusively on Madi — smooth, right?). Within two messages, he had her number, and after just a few days of texting, we knew we had to meet before Madi headed back to Illinois. Easter Sunday, we scrambled to find a place that was actually open and landed on the Wandering Gnome (a bar, the only bar and luckily they served Miller Lite). Truthfully, we both would’ve settled for Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's, we just really wanted to meet in person. Over beers, endless conversation, and a passionate exchange about a vacuum commercial (romantic!), we clicked immediately. Njyhalo drove Madi back to her hotel that night, and though neither of us worked up the nerve to kiss, we were texting each other before he even pulled out of the parking lot. Next stop: Memorial Day weekend in Louisville. More beers, a full season of It's Always Sunny, a visit to the sketchiest liquor store imaginable, and a Kroger run we somehow made memorable. We both knew we were onto something special. After a few more meet ups in Louisville over the summer, we met up again in July in Nashville for Njyhalo's 26th birthday. Madi cried on the way home from that trip — aka the moment she realized, “yep, these feelings are big.” Fast forward to the fall: Madi and her dog Parker moved to Knoxville and ended up moving into the same apartment complex that Njyhalo lived in when he first moved to Knoxville. Call it coincidence or maybe fate, but Madi ended up moving into #217 -- directly across the hall from #218 where Njyhalo had just moved out of a few months earlier. Shortly thereafter (and with Parker's approval) we said our first "I love you". After making incredible memories in Knoxville, in 2021 we took the leap and moved to Nashville together, merging apartments, pets, and lives. In 2023, we bought our first house, officially becoming proud homeowners (and co-hosts of chaotic Christmas gatherings). Then came the proposal — disguised as a simple family photo session in front of the Christmas tree. When Njyhalo dropped to a knee, instead of a "yes", Madi just said “oh my god” about a thousand times as Njyhalo put the ring on the wrong hand (classic), and just like that — we were engaged! Initially we had planned to wait a while and get married in 2027. However, the day we got our engagement photos back, we were so overcome with love and excitement to spend the rest our lives together we decided to push things up a bit. That is how our date, October 10th, came to be. A ten out of ten day. We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this next chapter with the people who mean the most to us. Thank you for being part of our story — we can’t wait to spend an unforgettable weekend with you all!
