We met on a random night in 2020, not thinking much of it, just Jake finding a new girl best friend who would listen to all of his late-night “girl problems.” For a while, that’s all we were: friends. Even though Jake never missed a chance to throw a sweet compliment Madi’s way. After many declined movie night invitations, one random night in December, Madi finally agreed to a “game night” at Jake’s college baseball house. What she didn’t know was that “game night” meant blaring music, Super Smash Bros, and not another girl in sight. Somehow, she stayed and that night turned into the first of many hangouts as “just friends,” while everyone around us started to question it (you were right, Mom!). What really sealed the deal was being snowed in together during the biggest winter storm San Antonio had seen since when Mitch Sims was in high school! No power, no water, nowhere to go and somehow still the easiest four days. As time went on and baseball season picked up, Madi started showing up to games, never later than the third inning, of course. Somewhere along the way, our “just friends” phase started to feel a little less believable. So, on March 18th, 2021, Jake officially ended his “3-month trial” and asked Madi to be his girlfriend. Fast forward to after college, we moved into our first apartment with our first golden fur baby, Margot, sweet, calm-ish, and absolutely perfect. Naturally, we thought, “Let’s do that again!” Then came Myles… who showed up like a wild bull and quickly taught us that patience is a virtue and the T-Rex phase of goldens is very real. Over the years, we’ve built a life full of the little things like binge-watching shows, going to concerts, delivering sweet treats to the school, and figuring out life as we go. Through it all, we’ve laughed a lot and grown a lot. After celebrating four years together, Jake asked Madi to be his forever on April 5th, 2025, at our favorite winery in Fredericksburg. The best part? The surprise wasn’t over, all of our favorite people were there waiting to celebrate with us. We are so excited to start this next chapter together and even more excited to celebrate it with the people who mean the most to us. We wouldn’t be here without all the love and support we’ve been given along the way, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
