How it all began

A peak into the proposal

The background: Cole and I dated over 5 years before he popped the question. We started dating while he was still in high school and I was in my freshman year of college. Throughout the five years we were dating, Cole and I made many road trips to see each other. During my fourth year of pharmacy school, Cole decided when I went to Arizona he would like to come along to spend some time with his best friend. While in Arizona, we spent a lot of time hiking, hanging out with my brother and Marty, and playing games with Tom and Janet. The proposal: On November 21st, my day started off normally. After rotation, Cole, Marty, and I were planning to go on a hike. The previous night, Cole and I had gone on a hike and when we got to the bottom the sunset was gorgeous. We decided it would be even prettier to see it from the top of a mountain which is when we decided that the following day we would watch the sunset on our hike. So, following rotation, we drove to the mountain and started our long hike. Cole basically ran up the mountain while I lagged behind. Marty stayed behind with me, which at the time I thought was very nice. Throughout the hike Cole was constantly turning around to make sure Marty and I were still behind him and encouraged us to keep going. Once at the top the view was gorgeous. When we were about ready to head back down, Cole asked me if I wanted to take our usual top of the mountain picture. Of course I wanted that picture. I walked over to area of the mountain with the most spectacular view and admired the beauty while waiting for Cole. Cole went over to his backpack (to grab what I thought was our phone for the pictures). As Cole was walking over, he told me to turn around, I turned around and Cole was down on one knee. He then asked me to be his wife and of course, I SAID YES! Little did I know, the entire trip up the mountain Marty was taking pictures to document this special day and I now have a play by play of our proposal.
