November 3, 2016. After connecting on the dating app Bumble and messaging back and forth for almost a month, Matt and Jennifer met each other out for what would be the worst first date of each other’s lives. The setting was Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the locations were Roosevelt's and Vintage 1740. He was annoying and argumentative (Jennifer's story). She was bratty and over talkative (Matt's story) to the point that Matt live-tweeted about how bad the date was (true story and sadly enough, those tweets were deleted shortly thereafter). Matt almost even sent Jennifer home in an Uber because he didn't want to have to take her home that badly. Both were skeptical of the dating scene at the time, BUT there was something in each person that continued to spark the other person's interest, so they agreed to see each other again after that disastrous first date, and since then all of their dates have been full of love, laughs, and lots of food.
April 25, 2018 2018 quickly became a BIG travel year for both Matt and Jennifer, and with so much of that travel dedicated to work, weddings, and Junior League - a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was exactly the kind of vacation they both needed. Both avid golfers, Matt proposed to Jennifer on the 18th hole of beautiful Myrtlewood Golf Club with a stunning ring that included diamonds from Jennifer's late grandmother's engagement ring. Once they arrived back at their condo on the beach, Matt surprised Jennifer with a stack of handwritten notes from family and friends (both his and hers) congratulating her on the engagement - a surprise that Matt had spent weeks in advance working on and mailing out cards. Following their engagement in Myrtle Beach, Matt conspired with some of Jennifer's friends in Tulsa to host a surprise party at Fuel 66 with all of their Tulsa family and friends upon their return from vacation.
December 29, 2018 We will be getting married in New Orleans, Louisiana! Why New Orleans? The city is an all-time favorite for Jennifer and is the city in which Matt and Jennifer took their first trip as a couple (2017 Sugar Bowl - Boomer Sooner). Even more so, this is the city in which Matt said "I love you" to Jennifer for the first time on New Year's Eve at the Davenport Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton. Pace yourselves because we are having a BRUNCH WEDDING! The wedding ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton courtyard, where Matt and Jennifer will say "I do" nearly two years after Matt said "I love you" at the same location. Following the wedding ceremony, guests will be invited to grab their "to geaux" drinks and handkerchiefs to head to the reception location via Second Line! Don't know what a Second Line is? Click on this link to learn more and get excited: https://www.nola.com/weddings/index.ssf/2011/04/second_line.html The wedding reception will be located at the historic Blue Room of the Roosevelt Hotel. Once guests have taken in the splendor of the "Winter Wonderland" lobby, they will be greeted with cocktails and a New Orleans-style reception complete with local brunch fare + dancing + more drinks!
