We met through a group of mutual friends in high school. It started off as a simple conversation through texting then it turned into going to formal together, then spending every second of every day together. Fast forward two years and I am graduating high school and moving to Sonoma for college. As every long distance relationship goes through hardships, due to the distance between us we decided to just be friends. We went our separate ways, growing and maturing, but still keeping in contact every so often to see how one another was doing. I graduated college and moved home in 2015. After being home for a few months, we eventually ran into each other while out with friends. At this point in both of our lives so many things have happened and changed but we picked up exactly where we left off!
My work at the time asked me to go to Kauai for two months, obviously I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to explore a beautiful island. At that point Jake and I had been doing about six months of long distance, so what's another couple hundred miles and a time difference right? He was able to take vacation time and come to Kauai. Little did I know, he had been carrying around the ring with him everywhere we went the first 3 days in Kauai. After almost eight years, Jake proposed on a beach, with my great-grandmother's diamond. That spot in Kauai will always have a special place in our hearts. We cannot wait to celebrate with everyone in May 2019! Love, Courtney & Jacob
