HER POV: Madelynn first met Andrew during a mission trip with her dad, Jesse, to Fort Thompson, South Dakota. One evening on the basketball court, she noticed Andrew wearing a cut-off black t-shirt, black basketball shorts, and cowboy boots. Laughing at his outfit, she thought they might become good friends. They stayed in touch through texting, discovering over time how much they had in common. A few months later, Madelynn was invited to intern at Diamond Willow Ministries, where Andrew serves as lead pastor. She initially hesitated but joined in May. When Madelynn returned the following year, things began to shift. Friends, especially Cricket and Aaron Vaughn, noticed what Andrew and Madelynn had not yet admitted. Acting as middlemen, they relayed bits of conversation between the two, making it seem like everyone else recognized their feelings first. Just two weeks into the internship, Andrew made the first move, with Jesse’s blessing. Both saw God’s hand guiding their story. In seasons of singleness, they had prayed for clarity, and in each other, they found steady peace and assurance from the Lord. Their friendship deepened into a thoughtful love marked by prayer, laughter, and joy. On Madelynn’s birthday, August 16th, Andrew asked her to be his wife. Grateful for God’s faithfulness, she said yes, and together they look forward to a lifetime of love and faithfulness. HIS POV: Andrew first saw Maddie in August of last year when her family came to help with a church work project. As he unloaded the trailer, he noticed her walking from the basketball courts toward the cabins. She seemed beautiful, but he knew little about her. On the second night, during time together before dinner, he realized he wanted to know her and her family better. They quickly discovered shared values, interests, and hobbies. At the week’s end, Andrew sent Maddie a friend request, sparking an ongoing conversation. Through the winter, they texted and occasionally called. In early spring, Aaron Vaugh invited Maddie to consider an internship at Diamond Willow Ministries. She accepted, visiting in March, and Andrew sensed a relationship might be possible, but he waited prayerfully. When her internship began in late May, Andrew acted within two weeks, asking Jesse for permission to pursue a relationship. With his blessing, he expressed his intentions through small acts of kindness, rides, thoughtful gifts, and time together. Maddie reciprocated, and soon Andrew invited her on a walk to make his intentions clear. As time passed, it became clear God had prepared their hearts for each other. They shared life goals and a ministry calling, and their relationship was marked with peace and joy. On August 16th, Maddie’s birthday, Andrew proposed with both families present. She said yes, and together they look forward to building a life founded on God’s love and will.
