Our love story begins all the way back in college at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ, where Maddie played basketball and Adam played baseball. We first met through our mutual friends and quickly became close, building a friendship that would become the foundation of everything. Adam will tell you that, for him, it was love at first sight. Not long after meeting, he was already referring to Maddie as “his wife,” a reflection of how strongly he felt about her from the very beginning. Over the next year, our friendship deepened as we spent more and more time together — hanging out over winter break, doing homework in the lobby, sharing dinners, and watching Game of Thrones whenever we both had free time. As time went on, our feelings for each other continued to grow. But Maddie, being the realistic one, knew her graduation was approaching. She had her dream job waiting as a nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Department back home in Pennsylvania, while Adam still had two more years of college ahead of him. Still, the more time we spent together, the harder it became to ignore the deep connection we felt for each other. Fast forward to Maddie’s last couple of weeks of college, almost two years after we first met, Adam finally found the courage to tell Maddie how he felt. Maddie, feeling the same way, knew it was worth taking a chance. Even though we would be three-and-a-half hours apart, we trusted that the strong foundation and friendship we had built could carry us through the distance. More importantly, we both knew this was a relationship worth fighting for. Little did we know all the challenges and adventures that lay ahead. After only one week of dating, Adam decided to spend the summer in Wisconsin for a collegiate summer baseball league. What started as a temporary move quickly became permanent — he never returned to New Jersey and eventually relocated to Florida to chase his baseball dreams. What we thought would be just two more years of college for Adam turned into four, filled with games, practices, and a journey that took him to Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, then the University of Miami, and finally Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale. The short three-and-a-half-hour drive between us quickly became 18 hours, but distance never weakened what we had. For four years, Maddie traveled all over Florida to see Adam, cheering him on, supporting him, and sharing in the highs and lows of chasing his dreams. Between the miles, countless flights, and even a global pandemic, our relationship faced challenges we never could have predicted. Yet through it all, our love only grew stronger, proving that some connections are worth every effort, every mile, and every obstacle in the way. After seven years and many moves, we are now building our life together in Miami, Florida, where Adam has received a promotion in his new career in medical technology sales, and Maddie is back doing what she loves in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. We truly cherish the little life we’ve created together and are so grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey over the past seven years. We are beyond excited to celebrate our special day with all of you and can’t wait to create even more memories together.
