We met on our first meeting as RA's at Kuyper college. At that moment I understood that before doing anything else, I would put in God's hands whatever comes out of our possible relationship - let God's will be done. While getting to know her, I knew that she was taking Spanish classes. You bet I did my move to "help" her with Spanish. Don't worry, I actually helped her and she did all her homework, but I got the bonus privilege of being next to her all that time. After a couple of months, I decided to tell her what I felt for her. Obviously, she was not expecting it, so I took the surprise factor and took her out for our first date. After telling her about my feelings, she responded with a nice and pleasant "okay". Nothing more, nothing less. At the end of the day, she actually never said no, so... I prayed to God that if she was not the one, I would prefer to stay away from her as much as I could. Although, that was not the case since after that day, we were still hanging out like we used to - more like if nothing happened. Then again, I took her for a surprise date and actually asked her out, kneeling with sunflowers in my hands, expecting her to say more than an "okay"- lol. After all this uncertainty, she said yes. Since that day, God has shown His grace, love, and faithfulness to us including planning all the proposal in El Salvador on our Christmas break. The best part is that we want to make you part of this story too! Can't wait for all of us to celebrate our union in Christ to live the life that God has already prepared for us.
One of the most special parts about our story is that we have been able to witness to the faithfulness, sovereignty, and provisions of God. In the beginning, it was clear that God had a purpose for us since the moment that I saw him at my church on a random Sunday morning in August of 2017. While we were not formally introduced that morning, I knew in my heart that I would see him again. While I thought that I would see him the next Sunday, it turned out that I would have to wait two more years until I transferred to Kuyper College and officially met for the first time. He always tells our story so much better than I do, but I am forever grateful for the ways in which God has shown up in big and humorous ways as He began unfolding more of His plan and desires for our lives together. We are so excited for this next step in our lives, and we are even more grateful and blessed by the people that we are able to celebrate with!
