It was day two on our beautiful getaway to the Smoky Mountains. We rented a cabin with far more space than we knew what to do with, surrounded by quiet mountain views from every angle. We had determined (although Finn had quite different plans) that we would take this day to simply relax without any solidified plans. The day started with an attempt to order groceries for the week, only for the delivery driver to become lost and cancel the order. This messed with Finn's timeline for the day, but he did his best to play it cool. We went to the store ourselves, and Maddie took her sweet time dawdling through Walmart, of all places, while Finn followed behind her, ring in pocket, sweating and getting alerts on his Apple Watch that his heart rate was too high. When we finally returned to the cabin, Maddie decided that she wanted to make a coffee, only to discover that the coffee maker was broken. After 20 minutes of trying to fix the coffee machine while becoming increasingly more hangry, Finn told Maddie to go take a shower and get ready for the day, and that they would go get coffee and lunch once she was ready. So, Maddie abandoned the coffee machine and did just that. While she was showering, Finn went onto the deck and placed a bottle of wine on the floor, with its containing bag reading: "Pairs well with getting engaged". With this, he texted Maddie's best friend, and now Maid of Honor, Emma, very precise instructions. When Maddie was (very slowly), doing her makeup, Emma FaceTimed her and asked for a virtual tour of the AirBNB. Maddie was, of course, very excited to show her, and began the tour on the main level of the cabin. Emma then told Maddie that she wanted to see the view, so Maddie walked onto the deck, with Finn following, and panned the camera across the mountains in a half-circle, before she noticed the wine bottle on the floor. At that point, Emma hung up, Maddie's hand went over her mouth, and she turned around to find Finn on his knee. She said 'yes', and the day ended with a helicopter ride, a photoshoot, and a private dinner. We couldn't be more excited to share the most important day of our lives with you all.
