These are our recommendations for travel from Madrid to Pamplona. You may also find direct trains from other Spanish cities like Barcelona. If you are flying from within Europe you may find better flight options to nearby airports like San Sebastian, Bilbao, Biarritz or Vitoria. Bilbao Airport (BIO) has the most direct flights from within Europe and is 1.5 hours driving to Pamplona. You could rent a car from the airport or hire private transfer or also take a bus. Train: Madrid - Pamplona

Train

Our recommendation is to take the train from Madrid to Pamplona. If you fly into Madrid, the Atocha Train Station is 20 minutes driving from the airport. It's important to remember that you may have long lines when you arrive to the airport in Madrid for passport check. Please allow yourself enough time to get to the train station when booking train tickets. • You can book your tickets on renfe.com • Make sure you choose the train option 'Desde: Madrid Pta. Atocha - Almudena Grandes Hasta: Pamplona/Iruña' • There are many trains to choose from varying from 3-4 hours. When selecting your train, look for the route that says 'ALVIA.’ It will be the shortest option at around 3 hours • Be prepared with Name, Passport, Email, Phone, and choose your payment method. The tickets will arrive to your email

Fly: Madrid - Pamplona

Flight

Iberia has direct flights from Madrid to Pamplona. If you fly into Madrid, you may need to switch terminals at the airport and re-check your bags. Taxis should be available at the Pamplona airport to take you to your hotel. Pamplona does not have Uber or similar apps. You can call a taxi using this number +34 948232300

Drive: Madrid - Pamplona

Drive

The drive from Madrid to Pamplona is 3.5 hours. There are various rental car companies at the Madrid airport including Avis, Enterprise and Hertz If you're staying at Hotel Tres Reyes (our recommendation), they have parking but you'll need to call ahead and reserve your spot as they are limited. TIP: If you're making the drive, be sure to stop at Hotel Landa for lunch or a snack and try the morcilla!
