Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will take place indoors. However, the cocktail hour will be held on a tented terrace on the Community House property, weather permitting.

Is there parking at the venues?

Answer

The First United Methodist Church has a large, free parking lot on the property. The Community House is located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, so street parking can be limited. We recommend that you park in the Chester Street Garage, located at 180 Chester Street. The Chester Street Garage is less than a 3 minute walk from the Community House.

While we love all the little ones, this will be an adults only event. Thank you for understanding, and enjoy your night off!

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is black tie optional.

Is it safe to visit Detroit?

Answer

Yes! The most frequented, tourist areas of Detroit- Downtown, Midtown, Corktown, and Belle Isle- are all vibrant and safe communities. If you plan on visiting any of the main tourist attractions, just exercise a normal level of precaution.

What is the weather like in Detroit in May?

Answer

Don't worry, there won't be any snow! However, the weather can be fairly unpredictable in May. Temperatures can range from 50 - 80 degrees, so please keep an eye on the forecast and dress accordingly.
