Nick & I met while working at Great Wolf Lodge. He worked in the Maintenance Department, and I worked in Food & Beverage. Every Sunday we were required to pull ice creams so we could defrost the freezers, and let me tell you.. they were HEAVY. Naturally I offered to make Nick a milkshake every time he pulled the ice creams for me as a thank you. I felt like it was a win-win. After quite a few milkshakes, we were spending more time together. 7 years later, we have two dogs, traveled to 10 states, and look forward to starting this new chapter of our lives!
I remember this day vividly as I looked down at my phone and see a text from nick: "tell your boss you need Friday off, otherwise you have to call out.. I have some special things planned." My boss is pretty amazing and right away gave me the day off, but I kept thinking: "what are these special plans? " My birthday was the 13th so I simply thought it was a little birthday get-away trip. Nick is ALWAYS planning fun stuff for us, so I didn't think too much of it. Even the day of, I wasn't told where we were going, just that it was a special birthday trip. When we arrived, I stayed in the truck as Nick got us checked in. My phone was blowing up from all the girls asking what was going on. I wasn't sure! I was 100% still surprised. We ended up at The Inn at Bay Harbor. I was so excited, as this place was BEAUTIFUL. We got checked in and immediately filled our days with self care that included massages, facials, & pedicures. We explored the vicinity and tried the restaurants and of course hit up the hot tub. I dressed nice every single day, in hopes of getting that ring.. On our last night the phone rang, and it was the front desk saying they had an amenity for us. I went to open the door and it was a bottle of Champagne.. LUCKILY the people next to us were loud and celebrating something special... I set it on the counter and thought nothing of it besides, hey, free champagne! Then we went to dinner and I figured "well, it must of not been this time!" I threw on some jeans, my winter coat and we were off to dinner.. but first.. a stop at the beach, where long behold, I said yes!
