How We Met

Mountain Magic

Luke found Madeline 5 years ago at their mutual friend Jared's birthday dinner in Denver. Jared was Luke's high school friend & Madeline's college friend. Madeline was late to dinner (per usual) & upon arrival struggled to unzip her coat for an awkward amount of time. Apparently, this drew Luke right in. After dinner, they went to Mile High Spirits. Luke, ever chivalrous, bought her a Cucumber Mule. They did converse, but, as Luke recalls, she was flirtatious with everyone but him, poor guy. After some small talk they realized that they lived one block from each other in Wash Park. In effort to save money Madeline, Luke & Luke's roommate shared a Lyft back to their house. At the house, Luke wanted to introduce Madeline to their kitties and afterward offered to walk Madeline home. She was thrilled because walking alone at night is not her thing. The next morning she texted her mom & said "a 'nerdy cute engineer' walked me home last night". NYE 2014: Madeline & Luke meet yet again at Jared's mountain house in Vail for a NYE celebration. Luke sported a mustache & vintage CU buffs coat, a look he occasionally attempts to this day. That evening they all went out to the bars, the only stop being The George, a local spot in Vail. Madeline was interested in finding a suitable New Years kiss, Luke being more interested in hanging with her & talking about engineering. Alas when the countdown began, the charade was up, and Luke went in for a kiss. Madeline was surprised but not mad about it. The next morning Madeline remembers he was very sweet, complimenting her red ski coat and told her to hydrate on the slopes. A month later, Luke messaged her asked her to go to Wings night. Madeline, ever in high spirits, made him smile like no one else ever could, and he knew he'd found someone special. Madeline & Luke have created a beautiful life together in Denver with their two pups, Millie & Bowie and enjoy cooking, outdoor adventures & hitting the town with their pals.
