Our paths crossed in concert choir (shocking) at Winona State in September of 2014. We were both sitting on a hill discussing kankles when we realized that we had met someone special. Even though it took me a while to admit I had a crush on Madeline, the relationship took off right away. I asked Madeline to "go steady," to which Madeline replied "What is this the 1970's? Try again!" on Valentine's day of 2015. Our relationship blossomed and we moved in together for the 2016 school year. We learned a lot about each other... like that Madeline is the better cook after I set off the smoke alarms.... twice... and that I am good at some things... (Let's leave that statement vague!) The rest was history. While we finished school we spent time enjoying each other's company, singing in choir together, visiting Waconia, and growing together. We adopted a cat, Edna (also known as my flower) in February of 2018 and in May we purchased our first home.... talk about another learning experience! Our family grew by four more feet when we adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog, Leonard... (also known as my Big Boy!!) in August. October rolled around (Madeline's favorite month) and on Halloween I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Obviously, she said yes and we began planning the wedding that she has dreamt about since she was 8 years old.... and the wedding that I have dreamt about... since we started planning it. Then COVID-19 hit... what the heck was that?! We still got married on 10/10/2020, but only had a small gathering of immediate family and the wedding party. As we planned for our second wedding (I can't believe I am saying that...) we added another member to our family... Norman, a Newfoundland. Our hearts and house (quite literally) are filled. We cannot wait to share our special day with all of you! With all our love, Ian and Madeline
