Where it all started. The summer of 2017.
We met biking across the country from New York to San Francisco with the Illini 4000, a student organization at the University of Illinois. As two of the 27 riders on the team, we quickly fell for each other. Though we don’t bike much these days, our love for adventure never faded. One month before our seven-year anniversary, Dylan proposed two miles into our rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon.
Our first backpacking trip together in March 2020 at Havasupai Falls. Madeline’s spring break visit to Phoenix turned into a five-month stay thanks to COVID!

Our sweet rescue, Luna, joined our family in late March 2025—just a few weeks after we moved into our new home. She’s been busy exploring every corner of the backyard ever since!
