According to Zilly family tradition, a boyfriend must bring a gift of meat if he wants to join for Thanksgiving for the first time! Cole gave Grandpa Fred a platter of smoked sausages.

Beauty and the Beast was the first Paramount show that Maddy and Cole attended together. Maddy and her family love theatre, so she was glad she could introduce Cole to the Paramount just before Covid.

With Maddy and Cole quarantining separately at their respective family homes, they unfortunately spent their first anniversary apart. Once restrictions lightened, they had an outdoor movie date!

With Cole’s mom being an expert baker (@angiescustomcookies), Cole and Maddy would decorate cookies using her kits! Their favorite thing was decorating cookies that did not match the intended shape.

Free Brookfield Zoo days are a favorite winter pastime of Cole and Maddy!

While Maddy was in Champaign and Cole back at home, time together was a treasure! Harvest Moon Drive-in was one of their favorite activities that occupied them through Covid.

Cole and Maddy both attended U of I, meeting when Cole was a graduating senior, and Maddy a freshman. Cole only started attending football games when Maddy made him.

Maddy and Cole went on their first road trip together November 2021 to North Carolina! The whole trip was planned around the dream of petting a highland cow.

Maddy and Cole have maintained a streak on Snapchat since about 2 months after they first met. Summer 2022 they celebrated 1000 days. On their wedding day, they estimate their streak will be at 2,303!

White Castle has table service every year on Valentine’s Day. One year, Maddy and Cole decided to go. Cole loved it so much he made her promise to go every year for the rest of their lives.

At a tapas restaurant just days before their actual anniversary, Maddy and Cole celebrated 5 years in Washington DC visiting their friend Sarah! Maddy loves tapas. Maddy also loves her friend Sarah.

Cole proposed to Maddy at the Aurora Country Club on the 3rd of July surrounded by Maddy’s family. 5 years prior at the same event, Cole met Maddy’s family for the first time.

Maddy and Cole celebrated their engagement with their close friends in their backyard just two days after. Maddy (and all their friends) thought they were planning a Fourth of July party instead!

In August 2024 Maddy and Cole adopted the adorable Millie!
