Rachel was a student at the University of Northern Iowa and was unfamiliar with Cedar Falls/Waterloo, so Rachel and Madeline’s first date was a day-long tour of the area and different restaurants. Rachel and Madeline started talking about their dream weddings over sweet potato fries at LJ’s - a classic first date move. Over time, the two of them bonded over their shared senses of humor and joy of life. There was always an adventure to go on, and there was always happiness to find when together. After many coffee dates and existential talks, Madeline knew Rachel was the person for her, so Madeline asked to be her girlfriend with a flower from the Cedar Falls Parkade. And that was the same place that Madeline proposed to Rachel on a chilly February afternoon.
