Our Story

On a cold January day in 2021, Maddie walked into a friend’s apartment for a casual get-together. She was greeted by her usual friends—and one unfamiliar face. Walking up with a warm smile, she extended her hand and said, “Hi, I’m Maddie.” He shook her hand and replied, “Hey, I’m Dylan.” That was it. Nothing crazy, no long conversations—just a simple introduction. They didn’t talk much for the remainder of the night, and neither gave it a second thought. But as the months passed and they continued to cross paths, something started to shift. Maddie began thinking, “Okay… he’s actually really cute.” Meanwhile, Dylan was realizing, “She’s kind of awesome.” Over the next year, they grew into best friends—completely unaware they were also slowly falling in love. They bonded over a mutual love for rock music and a shared distaste for pop music. One of the very first things Dylan said to Maddie being, "Wait... You ACTUALLY know Pearl Jam?". Maddie learned to appreciate Dylan’s obsession with golf, while Dylan found himself genuinely enjoying Maddie’s favorite scary movies and trashy reality TV. Soon enough, they were inseparable—and yes, everyone noticed. In March of 2022, they set out on a 23-hour road trip across the country to explore Utah’s national parks. They spent the long hours in the car singing along to their favorite bands—shout out to The Eagles, Pink Floyd, and The 1975—playing trivia, and sharing all of the tiny details about themselves with each other. They tent-camped in 11-degree weather, lived off peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, gas station coffee and Coors Banquets, all while making memories that would last a lifetime. On the final day of the trip, after a strenuous hike and what felt like five million switchbacks to the top of Zion’s Landing in Zion National Park, Dylan turned to Maddie and asked her to officially be his girlfriend. From that moment on, everything just kept getting better. Over the next three years, Maddie and Dylan built a beautiful life together. They bought a home, started new careers, cooked many meals together, traveled to countless states, countries, and concert stages—and with many more adventures still ahead, their bond only grew stronger. Nearly three years to the day after Dylan asked Maddie to be his girlfriend atop Angel’s Landing, he began planning something even bigger. In March 2025, on a whim, the two took a spontaneous road trip to St. Michaels, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. After three days filled with sightseeing, delicious meals, and miles of walking, Dylan found the perfect moment to put his plan into action. They spent their stay on a houseboat at The Wharf in downtown D.C., with a perfect view of the Washington Monument. As they got ready early for dinner on the last evening, Maddie suggested they take some photos—realizing they hadn’t taken a single one together during the trip. They strolled down the docks to a quiet, tucked-away spot along the Washington Channel. And there, with the water gently rippling and the city glowing around them, Dylan got down on one knee and asked Maddie to marry him. She was completely surprised—she hadn’t suspected a thing. It was the most perfect proposal, on the most perfect day. It was the beginning of the rest of their lives.
