Our Journey

Long before our love story began, Esteban and I were classmates at Whittier Elementary School from 2nd-4th grade. We rarely, if ever, spoke and only remembered each other due to two characteristics: he was incredibly pale and I didn’t like to share equipment during gym. We grew up in the same neighborhood just a couple of blocks from each other. We’d occasionally bump into each other at the park but never spoke. Then one day I said “eh, what the hell” and added him on Facebook. We were 18 and both dating other people, it was nothing but a friendly gesture. A couple of uneventful months go by; nothing but random messages on messenger reminiscing about elementary school and why we never spoke sooner. By this point we were both single and the conversations had started to become daily and consistent, so we decided to meet up. No better place to take a girl than a Mexican ice cream shop, right? Right! Because till this day that shop is one of my favorite places. This shop and some bleachers at the park would become our go to spots. Months go by and then a huge whoops; I’m pregnant with Ezra. We’re still 18 and absolutely terrified but things turned out fine for the most part. Ezra was born small but perfectly healthy on May 26, 2014 at 5lb 9oz. It was tough caring for a child at such a young age but we managed and he’s quite the 5 year old character today. Our second son, Benjamin, was born on February 25, 2017 almost 3 years after big brother Ezra. Again, a shock but we were excited for him. Our boys have helped strengthen our relationship and stabilize it to what it is today.

Our Marriage

Esteban and I officially tied the knot on April 11, 2015. It was a quick city hall wedding with no one present but our parents, our son, and a few of our siblings. After the wedding, his parents took us for a quick bite and then I went to work. Work on your wedding day? Yup, I know. It was tough times. This ceremony and reception on April 11, 2020 will serve as the “big wedding” we never had. Nothing would make us happier than a perfect evening with all the lovely people in our lives.
