One of our favorite hikes! The 6 mile round trip hike takes 3-4 hours, but view of Lava Lake at the top is worth it! Please bring bear spray if you're going on any hikes. Directions: The trailhead is located just off US 191 about 20 miles south of Gallatin Gateway and 15 miles north of Big Sky. The access road to the trailhead turns off US 191 at the Cascade Creek bridge. The bridge is where the highway makes a near 90 degree turn and crosses the Gallatin River.
This 6.3 mile round trip hike brings you to beautiful Beehive Basin Lake! Please bring bear spray on all hikes. *Turn off of Hwy 191 onto Lone Mountain Trail, follow the signs 9 miles to Big Sky Resort. Continue 1.5 miles past the resort entrance and turn right on to Beehive Basin Road just past the brown USFS Beehive Basin trailhead road sign. Continue up this windy road for 1.8 miles until reaching the trailhead on the left.
The river will be low in August - meaning rafting trips will be more scenic/low-key. It's still a fun activity to see more of the area.
Check out the ski resort for hiking, ziplining, shopping and chair lift rides to the top of Lone Peak!
From novices to experts, this is the place to go for fly fishing lessons and day trips.
West Yellowstone is straight out of an old Western movie. Check it out for shopping and dining before you head into the park.
Great BBQ and cocktails right on the Gallatin River. We recommend the grilled chicken wings and ribs!
Great spot for breakfast, sandwiches and pizza. Adam highly recommends the Baked Italian!
The BEST thai food!
Great place to grab an Old Fashioned before dinner!
For those seeking an upscale dining experience, Olive B's is our go-to spot for celebrations. We love their elk medallions and duck.
