A Gaye Holud is a pre-wedding blessing ceremony in Bengali culture in which turmeric paste is applied on the bride and groom by their families and friends. The turmeric paste is applied to cleanse and beautify the couple before their wedding day. An exchange of sweets and other gifts will occur between the bride and groom's families. The Gaye Holud will be accompanied by singing, dancing, performances, and traditional customs and rituals.
