Back in June 2018, Nick and Maddy were fresh out of school. Nick had just finished his J.D. at the Dickinson School of Law, Maddy had just finished her M.B.A. at Delaware Valley University, and both were cooped up studying. Nick was living at his apartment in Carlisle, PA and Maddy was at home with her parents in Doylestown, PA. On Father's Day weekend, Nick's sister, Audrey, invited him to Long Beach Island for a weekend at the beach. The plan was for Nick to drive straight to LBI from Carlisle on Saturday morning. But fate had other plans. Going stir-crazy from being stuck in his apartment studying, and with a gnawing feeling like he should go home to Doylestown for a day before heading to the beach, Nick packed up and left for Doylestown on Thursday night. Nick spent Friday morning studying at his parents but quickly grew bored. Bored and single in his home town, Nick decided to install the dating app, Bumble, to see if there were any interesting women to talk to. Meanwhile, on that same Friday evening, Maddy was also bored, single, and studying at her parent’s house. With her friend Mike Spahn's sage advice of "you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket" rolling around in her head, Maddy installed Bumble. After creating her profile, Maddy began swiping through the piles of uninteresting men. After a while, the "left" swiping grew faster and faster, so fast that she swiped Nick's profile right into the rejects. Maddy froze, realizing she had just left swiped her future husband into oblivion. Fortunately, Maddy remembered that Bumble allows for an "unswipe." She swiped right on Nick and hoped for the best. They matched later that night. Now here is the thing about Bumble, women have to message first. Having messaged after Nick went to bed, he awoke to "What was your favorite play from the Superbowl? The Philly Special or Brady dropping that pass?" Nick replied, "Well technically they were the same play." And the rest is history!
