June 2022— It All Started With an IG Story Honestly, I could write a whole book about us, but it would take forever for anyone to finish reading it. So let me make it short… well, short-ish. In June 2022, Jerry saw me on my friend Jenny’s IG story. He immediately asked Jenny if he could get to know me. Jenny told him she wasn’t sure because, in her words, “She’s a high-class babe oo,” but she passed the message to me. At that time, I was fully focused on nursing school. I didn’t want any relationship until I graduated. So when she asked if she could give him my number, I said no, he could have my social media, but not my number. The IG Request That Waited He added me on IG, I left him pending for 3 days. He complained to Jenny, and she had to remind me to accept it. and I finally accepted. He messaged me, but it took me five days to reply because school and clinicals were draining me. Waking up at 4:30am for 12-hour shifts? I barely had time to breathe, let alone be active on social media. He wasn’t happy but he didn’t run. June–July 2022 — The Slowest Replies on Earth We started talking slowly, but because I kept replying late, he wasn’t too happy about it . One day he asked how my clinical went, and after I told him, he offered to drop off dinner. I told him no, I had food at home. He offered to order something instead, even if I didn’t want to see him. I declined again. Hard girl mode activated. August 2022 — The Beach Surprise In August, Sister Jenny had a birthday beach gathering, and she invited me not knowing Jerry would be there. I walked down, said hi to him, and didn’t even know it was him because this was our first time meeting in person. He introduced himself and said he was the Jerry I’d been talking to. We chatted a little. “I Think You’re My Future Wife” When I got home, he texted: “Hey, it was nice seeing you in person today. You look so gorgeous I couldn’t take my eyes off you.” ( blushing) I replied, “That’s nice, thank you for the compliment.” He asked to see me again, but once again, school was my excuse. Jerry said he would wait until I finished because he wasn’t giving up even telling me he thought I might be his future wife. I laughed because I thought he was just talking nonsense. But look at God now! August 2022 — Flowers & Food Delivery After finishing my preceptorship early one day, he asked about my plans. I told him I was going home to do assignments and sleep. He said he was in Surrey and could drop off dinner. I still said no, even though I was hungry. But he insisted he wasn’t leaving until I agreed. I finally gave him my address and told him to order me food instead. But this man did not listen. He showed up himself with food and flowers. We talked a little, and before I went in, he asked for my number again. I still didn’t give it. He couldn’t believe it after over a month of talking, but I told him my number was private and he would get it one day.
August 2022 — Our First Date Jerry asked me out on an official date in August. He planned everything, sent all the details, and asked to pick me up. I refused, I wanted to drive so I could escape if the energy was off . That evening, my phone completely failed me. No network, no WiFi. I drove to Burnaby for the movie date but got lost, took almost 2 hours, and couldn’t reach him. He was messaging me, worried, but I couldn’t see anything. But he waited calmly I finally called Jenny to give me his number so I could explain. (Yes, this is how he finally got my number after months). I apologized for being 2 hours late, but he remained calm and told me to take my time. When I arrived, stressed out, he came outside, took my car keys, and went to find parking for me. Such a gentleman. He opened doors, checked on me, made sure I was okay. I felt bad, but he wasn’t mad, he was smiling the whole time. After the movie, he called to make sure I got home safe, offered to help with assignments and a ride to clinicals in the morning and check on me every day. Our second date happened on my last day of internship, and it was amazing. After that, Slowly… steadily… naturally… We were building something real. Our Third Meeting — A Wedding Then came the wedding invitation. One of his friends was getting married, and Jerry asked me to be his plus one. I hesitated, like, “Sir, you don’t even know me like that yet!” But he sent me the official invitation and everything. I had my friend do my makeup so I could look extra fine and make him fall even more in love 😌. At the wedding, I met some of his friends for the first time they were so nice and welcoming. He was the MC, so I was mostly by myself, but he kept checking on me, coming by, and texting me to make sure I was okay. When I told him I wanted to leave early, he dropped me off at home and went back to the event. Green flags everywhere. Church Visits & Lunch Drops A few weeks later, he invited me to his church. I told him I had my own church but I would visit one day. I also invited him to mine. He even planned to come, but I had to work that day, so he dropped lunch off for me at work instead. 1 Year Later After Grad — We Made It Official When nursing school finally ended, we started dating properly. No more slow replies. No more “I’m too busy.” Just the two of us, choosing each other every day. June 2025 — The Best Proposal Ever Jerry proposed to me in June 2025, and it was absolutely perfect. He gave me my beautiful ring and put everything I ever wanted into the proposal. I couldn’t stop smiling, it was everything I had dreamed of and more. That was the moment I knew… forever had begun. Today — Forever Begins I met the love of my life. The most caring man I have ever known. My answered prayer. My blessing in human form. My future husband. I am the luckiest girl and this is just the beginning of our forever. Shoutout to Our Loved Ones We couldn’t have made it this far without the love and support of our friends and family. To everyone who helped us get through this journey together until the end — you guys are amazing. We appreciate every single one of you!
It all started on one lovely, sunny Sunday afternoon in June 2022. I was casually scrolling through Instagram stories, minding my business, when I saw this beautiful woman on a friend’s story. At first, I skipped past it like I had sense… but something told me, “Brother, go back.” So I did. I gathered courage and asked my friend, “Who is she?” Their response? “Leave this one o, she pass you.” Very encouraging, right? But thankfully, they still went ahead and told Maddy that someone had a crush on her. Maddy agreed to give me her Instagram, but not her phone number. Small win. We followed each other and started talking, although in the beginning, her replies were moving at international shipping speed. Eventually, the conversations became more frequent, but she was still holding on to that phone number like it was classified government information. Even after I brought her flowers, she still said, “Instagram is enough for now.” Tough crowd. Then came our first date in August 2022. We planned to go to the movies, and I arrived excited and ready. Then I waited. And waited. And waited some more. At that point, I was convinced I had been professionally ghosted. I didn’t have her number, her Instagram messages were not delivering, and I was standing there questioning all my life choices. Just as I was about to leave, she finally called and explained that she had gotten lost and had no internet in the area. Honestly, any anger I had disappeared immediately. She showed up with the loveliest smile I had ever seen, and just like that, I forgot I had been waiting. Who could resist that smile? We missed the movie, but we ended up sitting at a restaurant for about an hour, just talking. And honestly, that was even better. She was so gorgeous, so sweet, and all I could see were those heavenly eyes. I knew something special had just begun. Our second date was even more memorable. I invited her to a friend’s wedding where I had to MC. I thought she might find it awkward, but she enjoyed every bit of it. We laughed, talked, danced, and got to know each other even more. Looking back, it feels beautifully fitting that one of our early dates was at a wedding, almost like God was giving us a little preview. Soon after, we became official. No more late replies, just two lovebirds who can't stay away from each other Fast forward to June 2025, I went down on one knee and asked Maddy to marry me. Of course, I had to. I had found the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with: my love, my peace, my answered prayer, and the one whose smile still gets me every single time. And now here we are, getting ready to say “I do” and begin forever together. From an Instagram story, to delayed replies, to a missed movie, to forever. We would not have it any other way.
