Our initial save the date ideas ranged from fully custom letterpress cards to ready made cards from an online print shop to vintage Valentine’s Day cards. None of them felt just right, but we wanted to incorporate aspects of all of them. It was important to us that the natural beauty of the Oregon coast was represented and that the cards would be one of a kind as well as personal to us. After looking at all the options available to us we realized that the answer was right in front of us the whole time. I (Hayley 👋), as a lifelong collector of vintage and antique postcards, had just purchased a pair of unposted mid century cards with images of the Oregon coast (one of which pictures the exact cape our venue is within!). We realized we could scan the cards and utilize them as the base for our save the date cards! While we were visiting our venue we picked up two more vintage postcards from an antique shop in Tillamook and created four designs in Canva- three of which we printed and sent out as our save the date cards. We feel that this is the perfect way to have one of a kind save the date cards while giving credit to the makers of the original cards. It was so fun to collaborate with each other and learn which details were most important to the other (images of the coast for Jake 🌊 and flowers or vintage details 🌸 for me).
