It all started on a summer night in Minneapolis. Maddie was home from New York City for a weekend with friends and family to see Kenny Chesney. After the concert, the group ended up at Cuzzy’s—a bar known to bring out either the best or the worst in Maddie (depending on who you ask). While standing (or maybe budging) in line for a drink, she struck up a conversation with a cute guy who said, “If you’re going to budge, at least let me in on that order—I’ll buy your drink.” That guy was Tony. After a few texts and voicemails (Ciao Bella) back and forth, Tony decided to take a chance and visit Maddie in New York City. It was his first trip to the city, and though his family thought it was a bold move, it turned out to be worth it. Our first date at the U.S. Open was a hit, and from then on, we made the distance work. For the next couple of years, we split our time between Minnesota and New York, traveling back and forth and building a relationship full of adventures. We met each other's families early on (Maddie sitting at the “big table” at Tony's sister’s wedding just two months after we started dating), and later, we explored new places together, including a trip across the world to Egypt. In May 2024, Maddie moved back to Minnesota, and living together felt like the easiest decision we’d made yet. By October, Tony proposed, and here we are, planning a celebration with all the people who mean the most to us. Who knew a random night at Cuzzy’s could lead to this!
