It all began with a Spring Term class our first year at Washington and Lee that took us to Copenhagen. Those two weeks of poking fun at Witt’s girly drink orders and questionable cage dancing turned into a sophomore year of formals and kitchen party courtship. Witt finally built up the courage to “make it official” the summer before our junior year, and it wasn’t much longer until he was professing his love on the KA lifeguard stand. Since then, we have studied abroad, graduated college, moved to a new city to start our first jobs, gone to grad school, and gotten our puppy, Westley. And now, six years later, here we are - back in Lexington where it all started.

After five years of love, fun adventures, and growth together, Witt finally proposed. After a mother-daughter day trip to the Charlottesville wineries, Kendra drove me back to Lexington where Witt and Westley were waiting out in the rain at the top of Windfall Hill - our favorite place to watch House Mountain sunsets together. Witt’s heartfelt words were followed by him getting down on one knee and my long-awaited “YES!” Afterward, Witt took me home where I was expecting Napa Thai and PJ’s - until I opened the door and found a house full of friends and family ready to celebrate!

We cannot wait to celebrate our wedding with everyone on August 6, 2022! The big day will take place in Lexington, Virginia and we hope you will be able to join us. Love, Maddie & Witt
