Although we had to postpone our big day to August 8th, 2020, we made the decision to keep our original date, and get married in front of our families. What a special day it was. The ceremony was held at Ascension Lutheran Church. This church is such a special and cherished place that holds many memories for both of our families. Just to list a few.... I was baptized here, my parents were married here, both my paternal and maternal grandmothers, Delores Richardson (Grandma) and Carol Funk (Granny), are still current members, my dad and his siblings grew up going here, and my paternal grandfather’s, Charles Richardson, funeral was held here. What makes this church even more special is that Whitt’s paternal grandparents, John and Norma Warner, were members of the church and both of their funerals were held at Ascension. Pastor Jackie Utley, who married us and is practically a Richardson, was able to find a church directory from 1992 that included pictures of my paternal grandparents, both of my dads siblings, my parents and Caroline, and on the very next page Whitt’s grandparents! This meant that they all were members at the same time! Due to the current church season of Easter, the banner that was displayed in the church was given in memory of my Grandpa by family and friends. I think we can all agree that was no coincidence. Whitt and I were able to add to the list of significant events at this very special place on May 23rd, 2020, and it was absolutely perfect. We cannot wait to be able to continue to celebrate this wonderful covenant of marriage that God has blessed us with in August with the rest of our family and friends!
