Maddie and Nate met in 2019, shortly after Maddie moved back to Minnesota. Maddie had just accepted a new job as a behavior technician at Comfort Autism Center in Saint Paul, where Nate was already employed. Starting off just as friends Nate gathered up the courage to slide into Maddie's DMs on Instagram. They planned what would have been their first date to go to Vikings training camp together, but ended up hanging out two days earlier than planned and went to Surly Brewing for beers and pizza. We both knew that night that this was the real deal and had absolutely no doubts. We wouldn't say it was love at first sight, it probably took a full 5 minutes.
What Maddie thought was just a regular Sunday turned out to be the best day of her life, until 12.17.2022 that is! We got up and went to Starbucks for coffee and then headed to the dog park with, Izzy just like normal. As we were walking around the park, Nate started to talk about how he knew from our first date that he was going to marry me. That is when he tried to start holding my hand as we walked which, is when I knew something fishy was going on; we never hold hands like that. He kept talking and said how he can't wait to start a family and continue to build our lives together. It was at that moment that Nate got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Even though I knew what was happening I couldn't help but cry- and of course I said YES!
