It was the summer of 2012 in Leander, TX. Maddie and Mike met at the first tennis practice of the season. Maddie was the new girl who moved from Oklahoma. Mike was the tennis captain. As the tennis season pressed on, they found themselves as great friends, laughing at each other on the bus to and from tennis tournaments and during school. It was around this time that Mike playfully wrote a marriage contract on paper (which was a “do you want to marry me, check yes or no”) She signed it & checked “yes”. Little did they know it would be exact 9 years later to the day that they sign a true marriage contract. 2013 rolls around and Maddie’s family had change in plans. they wanted to move back to Oklahoma. They attempted to date long distance, but with Mike moving to college & Maddie now five hundred miles away, it became difficult. They grew distant, eventually breaking up. Throughout the years they would check in on each other but ultimately never had a conversation longer than “how are you?” Sept 2018, Mike was working in TX. Maddie was finishing up college in Tulsa. Mike had found the courage to send a very bold message to Maddie telling her, “you were the one that got away”. She was shocked but decided to give it a chance. Within 1 month, they decided for him to come take a visit to Tulsa. Their relationship came back to life, picking right up where they left off. Within 3 days of being reunited, Mike professed his love for her and they kissed. In that moment, they both knew they would spend the rest of their lives together. 6 months later Mike moved from Austin to Tulsa to be with Maddie. They spent the next year and a half growing together, and dreaming of how they wanted to start their lives together. On December 5th 2020, Mike proposed to Maddie and she said YES. We are thrilled and grateful you are here with us to celebrate our life and future together! We truly love each and we everyone of you. Thank you for supporting us along every step.
