John and Maddie met from having a mutual connection that had a hotel room for a music festival. Maddie was invited to go to Goldrush up in Phoenix just a month into her freshman year at the University of Arizona. On the drive up, John calls the mutual connection, asking to see if he can stay with them for the night for he didn't want to spend the night at his Aunt's house. She said sure and Maddie thought nothing of it. When John arrived and walked through the door, Maddie looked over and her first thought was "Oh my gosh, he is the hottest man I have ever seen!" (no joke). She instantly ran over and the first words she ever said to him were "How is my outfit?" They started talking and didn't start dating until a month later. She was always at his place and they were always hanging out. Yogurtland runs, Date Dashes, and getting John in as a guest for meals at Maddie's sorority house where are the epitome of their relationship. Their relationship stood through the tests of studying abroad in France, COVID, and the rough reality check of the job market after graduation. After graduation, both set off for jobs with one being remote in California and one at Walt Disney World John visited Maddie as often as he could in Florida and they enjoyed the free tickets and discounted food Maddie's job gave her. But both knew they wanted to be together forever and Maddie wanted to get out of the magic. She left Disney in December and John was thrilled! John and Maddie knew they wanted to take their first out-of-college vacation together and decided on no better place than Paris! John secretly got the dream ring she always wanted and asked for her dad's blessing. It was all set and surprised Maddie with a proposal at the Luxembourg Gardens on their first day in Paris. She said "YES!!" And now they will both say "I do"!
