Maddie was already working at Shoprite when Joey started in May of 2016. Ironically enough Maddie couldn't stand Joey, and thought he was too sarcastic for his own good. Spoiler-- she got over it, and they became friends. Over the next few years life happened, and Maddie dropped to part-time at Shoprite when she started working for the Credit Union. Joey graduated in 2016 and moved to Tennessee with his best friend shortly after. Despite being miles apart, Maddie and Joey kept in touch and when he came back to visit later that year they were reunited--but only for a few days. *Side note: Maddie also found out Joey could play guitar, which she had thought he was lying about when he told her the first time-- did we mention he can be sarcastic? Anyway, as soon as Joey hit the road to drive back to Tennessee, the both of them made plans for her (and some friends) to make a trip to Tennessee, which happened in the early spring. After the trip Maddie decided this was it, she loved him, and when she told him, Joey "didn't know what to do with that information" but luckily, things worked out. A few months later Joey decided the next step of his journey would take place back at home in Pennsylvania, and once he moved home the two were inseparable. They started an acoustic music duo which gave them an excuse to hang out all the time, but it didn't take long for and excuse to not be necessary, and in the fall of 2017, they started dating and have remained inseparable. In 2018 Joey's family moved to Delaware, so the two of them moved in together in their first condo which belonged to Maddie's grandmother. 2019 Was their best year yet; beginning with Joey starting a new job with a new company and ending with their ENGAGEMENT and BUYING A HOUSE! So now here we are in 2020 planning our wedding and we cant wait to see all of you there!
Maddie and Joey were in Las Vegas, Nevada back in October. Joey had snuck the ring in his carry-on and worked with Melissa (Maddie’s mom) to surprise Maddie at some point during the trip. Unsure when or where “it” was going to happen, Joey slipped the ring into his backpack before leaving the hotel for a day full of exploring in Red Rock Canyon. After driving through the Canyons and finding a hidden trail that led the the base of a small cave, Joey climbed up on the rock and told Maddie she “had to climb up to see the view!” Maddie handed her bags to her mom while she made her way up the rock, and once at the top Melissa said to “smile for a picture” which is when Joey made his move! Just a few seconds after the “picture” (which was actually a video) was taken, Joey— being the man of few words that he is— dropped to one knee and as he pulled out the ring said “well, while we’re up here, I need to ask you something... will you marry me?” Maddie couldn’t believe it, and asked if it was a joke... but the real answer was a no-brainer— she said yes! ♥️💍
