Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Well, well, well, do we have an answer for you! It may feel like we picked this location just to inconvenience you, but we promise we did not. White Point Beach Resort is a full service resort, and we have sections of rooms and cottages blocked off that range in price and size. We are hopeful that this will be accessible for all of our friends and family, and that the resort will serve as a one-stop-shop for wedding logistics. You are also welcome to stay in the nearby communities of Hunts Point or Liverpool. You can book a resort room, or 1-, 2- or 3-bedroom cottage by following links on our Accommodations page, or by calling the Resort at (902) 354-2711 ext. 810. Please reference the Tracey Wedding to ensure you are getting the best rate and included in our block. White Point Beach Resort is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from Halifax. The idea is that this wedding will feel like adult summer camp - full of fun and games, and lots of love.

Question

When can we book rooms?

Answer

We haven't sent out invitations, yet, but you are more than welcome to book your accommodations at the Resort if you have received a Save the Date. White Point does tend to be a popular spot in the summertime, so we encourage early booking. Please call the Resort directly and reference the Coats Tracey wedding. (902) 354-2711 or 1-800-565-5068 ext. 810

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please RSVP by April 1, 2026 so we can have an accurate headcount. If you already know you will not be able to attend, please let the couple know as soon as convenient (even if formal invitations haven't been sent out). We intend to send formal invitations and open RSVPs in 2026.

Question

I've heard a rumour about a pre-wedding golf tournament, is it true?

Answer

You heard right - we will be hosting the inaugural Maddie & Joe Fore-ever Invitational on Saturday, August 1. This will be a 9-hole, 4-man scramble tournament on the lovely greens of White Point Golf Course. Shotgun start at 1pm on Saturday. All levels of golf welcome, and have no fear if you are coming as a party of one, two, or three - we can team you up! Awards night to follow at the main cottage, which will double as a welcome party for anyone arriving Saturday night.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

If you don't like the weather in Nova Scotia, wait 10 minutes! August on the South Shore is unpredictable, but it is typically warm, occasionally rainy. Our fingers and toes are crossed for a warm, east coast summer weekend. The ceremony and cocktail reception will be outdoors (weather permitting), with dinner and dancing indoors.

Question

Is there free parking?

Answer

There is plenty of free parking at the Resort, just past the front gate. Once you arrive for the wedding or for the weekend, you will not have drive anywhere (unless you want to).

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

For the big event, we are hopeful that our guests will dress up with us; we are opting for formal / black tie optional dress. There are paved paths between each wedding location (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception). For all other weekend wedding activities, everything will be casual - no need for multiple nice outfits. To the most stylish victor go the spoils on the golf course, though...

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Please check your invite for your +1! While we tend to be excitable when it comes to invites and want to include everyone and their dog, we ask that you adhere to your invitation with respect to bringing a date. We are focused on our nearest and dearest for this weekend.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As much as we truly love your little ones, we will only be including our own children in the wedding celebrations on Sunday. This being said, White Point is a wonderful, family-friendly resort with flexible rooming options. If bringing your little ones along (and maybe their loving aunts, uncles or grandparents for backup!) makes sense for your family, they are more than welcome at the events other than the ceremony and reception (like the welcome party on Saturday). There is a playground, a pool, and other kid-friendly activities on resort. Reach out to Maddie or Joe if you'd like to chat about your specific circumstance.

Question

Will there be any activities happening that I need to know about?

Answer

Yes - we will keep our Schedule page up to date with events and let guests know as activities are coordinated. We encourage everyone who is interested to register for the golf tournament!

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

We are not registering and ask only for your presence and well wishes! We know this weekend is a big ask, so please do not feel obligated to bring a gift. There will be a safe place to drop cards during the reception if you are so inclined.

Question

Why the heck would I go to Hunts Point, Nova Scotia?

Answer

As a child, Maddie (and her many siblings) referred to White Point as "heaven" on their annual family vacations. White Point (which is located in Hunts Point) is a bit of a ways, but what better way to unplug for a weekend and have some fun with your favourite party people?! We are hopeful it will bring the right mix of fun, seaside, adult-summer-camp energy to make for a particularly memorable cottage weekend. White Point has lots to do, even if you aren't into golf. The Resort has a spa, pools, and games room, a kilometre-long beach and a boathouse complete with surfboard rentals, pedal boats, and various lesson opportunities. Please visit the Resort website for a full breakdown. We will also be a short drive away from Liverpool, Bridgewater, Lunenburg, and Shelburne, if a Nova Scotia fishing town day trip tickles your fancy. Worst case Ontario, have a beer and go for a swim! Please call or text Maddie at 902-476-9099 or Joe at 902-489-9903 with questions. We are cognizant that this whole escapade may be too significant a cost for your family. Or it may be, frankly, too much work. If you have read this far, and are thinking to yourself "I don't know about this", in true Maddie fashion, there is absolutely no pressure to attend. If you have been invited, it's because we would love to celebrate with you. But, we know this is not only a notable cost, but also a peak summertime long weekend. Be honest with us and yourselves, no hard feelings either way.
