Our Love Story

It all kicked off on New Year’s Eve 2017. We didn’t talk a ton that night, but we definitely hit it off as friends. After that, we started hanging out in groups, late-night HousePartying (group video chatting), getting closer bit by bit. By the summer of 2018, we went on this big group beach trip. It took a lot of convincing for Maddie to be able to go on the trip (thank you, Tonya and Troy, for finally agreeing!). That’s where things really clicked—laughing, talking, starting things on fire, just vibing together. On July 4th, 2018, we were cleaning up a slip n slide in the pouring rain at Maddie’s parents' house when Avery came outside and had a comment about us liking each other. Which, at this time, neither one of us was willing to admit we had feelings for one another. We were just “friends.” From stealing traffic cones, setting off fireworks, swimming at Payton’s, going to softball tournaments, and everything in between, it’s always been a fun time! On August 9th, 2018, after a round of mini golf, we made it official—and it’s been a wild ride ever since. These past eight years have been packed with adventures, surprises, and so many laughs. Hunter went on his first Bruder/Yocum family vacation in 2019 to South Carolina, then took our first just-us trip to Arizona in 2020. College was a hustle—driving hours for quick weekend visits just to see each other for a bit. Thank you to COVID for saving us a year and a half of long distance! We worked way too many shifts together at Target, dreaming of something more. Now we’re both teachers, doing what we love side by side. On July 20th, 2024, on a family trip to Bermuda, we got engaged. Right after, we moved into our house in Fleetwood and got our dog, Roman—he’s the best. From airboating in the bayou to four-wheeling in the desert, snorkeling in Bermuda, and hiking to the Hollywood sign, we’ve had a blast. Here’s to tons more years of adventures, twists, and laughs together. We owe a thank you to Mikayla McGarr and Payton Zellers. If it weren’t for you guys introducing us, we would not be where we are today❤️
