Our story begins in January of 2019, we met in passing and it was rather...unremarkable (womp womp). Fast forward two months later in March of 2019, Maddie was waiting to audition for the school musical, The Little Mermaid, when she saw the competition she quickly chickened out. The two later meet again when Maddie decided to do backstage tech in the musical. Maddie was assigned to build the large sets and Elise (who is very artistically talented) was assigned to paint the sets. One day Maddie had passed Elise who was tasked to cleaning every single paintbrush that was left by the rest of the crew after everyone left. Maddie felt bad so she stayed behind to help Elise clean all of the brushes, they exchanged stories and jokes and Maddie enjoyed making her smile and laugh. After a few interactions, Maddie purposely got bad at building sets to be asked to switch jobs on the set. Maddie's plan had worked out perfectly and she was quick to choose to move to painting the sets. One thing led to another and Maddie found herself chasing after her in the hallways, finding out her class schedule to make sure that she would run into Elise in the hallway. Late March Maddie got a little over confident and asked Elise out on a date.... AND GOT REJECTED LOL. After some disappointment it took a lot more to make Maddie quit, she continued to follow her around school because she knew that she could still make Elise smile and giggle. Despite the rejection, Maddie and Elise shared their first kiss on the last day of their sophomore year of high school. Fast forward to our very first 'official' date, Men In Black 3, July 2019. They had made plans to see Rocket Man in theaters but were quickly labeled as 12 year olds and weren't allowed to see the rated R movie. Maddie had moved 45 minutes away from Elise and had no means of seeing each other for a while. Once Maddie had learned to drive, she was coming home late from curfew every weekend (sorry mom) to go see Elise. April of 2024 Maddie and Elise had both reached adulthood and decided it was time to get their first apartment. They found a "lovely" 400 square foot apartment to share. Elise was in her final years of college and Maddie working a daycare job near boulder so they took what they could get to stay with each other. That year they adopted their first cat, Juniper, who became their pride and joy. May 2025 Maddie and Elise adopted their second cat, Hemlock. Elise graduated college in May with her Bachelors degree in Elementary education. Maddie was already planning proposal in January of 2025 but was waiting for Elise to graduate college. After some careful planning, Maddie finally popped the question on July 10th, 2025 and Elise had finally said yes! They both knew each other so well that when Maddie proposed, Elise was also planning to propose the same day at The Denver Botanical Gardens. The rest is history, Maddie and Elise are very excited to unite their love and become Mrs. Castillos.
