In January 2020, Maddie spotted David while waiting for a Starbucks. Commenting to her friend, "wow, who is that?" encouraged information to be exchanged, and the rest is history. Spending time in quarantine during the 2020 pandemic solidified their bond and encouraged their love to grow. After many years of moving back and forth from Eugene to Portland, we settled down in Portland. Christmas Eve Eve 2023 became the date known forever as our engagement date, even though David had Covid and unfortunately gave it to Maddie. A full circle moment predicting a wonderful future.
