To sum it up, we owe it all to Saad Raja (Groomsman). In the Fall of 2015 Maddie was dateless for a sorority function and turned to a good pal, Saad, for any date suggestions. One Friday night at another 'Beer Garden' party (Jason's infamous college party house), Saad suggested his best pal Jason to accompany Maddie. Jason? Maddie had no idea who this Jason fellow was but said sure anyway. About 30 seconds later, there Jason was at the top of the stairs in line waiting for the bathroom, in his own house. Maddie walked up to Jason and said 'hey wanna go to Kappa Delta bus party with me? It's Jungle themed!' Jason, apparently a man of very few words when approached by a striking young lady, literally just said 'sure.' The rest is pretty much history, but if you want more here ya go. The night came to a close and Maddie thought she should give this quiet man her phone number so we can coordinate outfits. Maddie approached Jason once again and handed him her phone and asked to exchange contact information. He put his number in and gave it back to Maddie saying absolutely nothing. Fast forward to a week later and this quiet and shy man shows up to the pregame for the bus party, outfitted head to toe in a jungle blazer and bucket hat and wanted to take a zillion photos with Maddie (see 'photos' page for proof!). Jason followed Maddie around all night and she thought he was a crazy person. Long story short, Maddie ended up inviting Jason to another sorority function a few weeks later and the rest is truly history. So, thanks Saad for setting up our great love story, we owe a lot to you :)

The one and only rule Maddie had was for Jason's proposal plans was to NOT propose on Valentine's Day. So what does Jason plan? A February 15th proposal. Classic. Maddie's family was in town 'visiting' when the one and only snow storm in KC hit the area and destroyed all of Jason's plans. The planned on proposal location closed due to the storm, photographer got snowed in, etc. You name it, it happened that day. Jason being the planner that he is basically freaked out, Maddie unaware of anything being out of the ordinary. After many changing of plans and a very stressed out Jason, the new proposal date was sent for February 16th. As we got closer and closer to the location on that Saturday morning, Maddie's little bro, Mikey, texts Jason from the backseat of the car "What if she says no" (elevating Jason's stress levels just a little bit). Jason ended up dropping to one knee on the infamous Plaza staircase, in downtown Kansas City. It was everything Maddie could have ever hoped for and more, having her family there meant the world to her.
