Things To Do

We're so excited to share a few of our favorite places with you. The black hills holds a special place in our hearts. A quick reference for locations of the below recommendations - Spearfish (where the wedding is) is about 20 minutes from Deadwood (where we have our room blocks). Deadwood to Rapid is about 45 minutes. Deadwood to Custer State Park and Hill City is about and hour. Lots to see in between.

Our Favorite Bars & Restaurants in Deadwood

Saloon Number 10 - Our favorite bar. Usually have live music and cheap tables to play blackjack on. Lewies Burgers & Brews - Located right outside of Deadwood - Best burgers! The Bodega - The closest things to a "club" at night in Deadwood. Maddi was a regular. The Nugget Saloon - Great single slices of Pizza. Maverick Steak & Cocktails - Great food right above the casino Jacobs Brewhouse - Great upscale restaurant with yummy drinks Lee's Street Station - Good breakfast spot. Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center

Open every day 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the museum and take a look at the deepest gold mine in the northern hemisphere!

Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway

Spearfish, SD

Beautiful drive and great hikes like Iron Creek Trail and Roughlock Falls. There is also a restaurant, the Latchstring Restaurant, within the canyon. To find the southern end of the drive, take Highway 85 east from Wyoming or west from Lead/Deadwood. When you come to the Cheyenne Crossing junction, head north on Highway 14A and let your scenic cruise begin.

Go visit the boys! After visiting, there are some hikes around the base of the park. Powder House Dining is a yummy restaurant on the way to Mount Rushmore.

Bear Country USA

Drive through wildlife park - three-mile drive through enclosures, spotting animals such as black bears, elk, reindeer, mountain lions, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, and bison.

Reptile Gardens

Devils Tower

A famous geological formation in the Devils Tower National Monument, known for its imposing height of 867 feet and its significance to Northern Plains indigenous peoples.

A scenic steam train ride through the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Departing from Hill City and Keystone near Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Crazy Horse Memorial.

Rushmore Tramway Adventures
