Our story began with a mutual friend who somehow knew our hearts before we knew each other. She had been both of our bosses at different points in our lives, and somewhere along the way, she noticed something in us that felt the same. The kind of similarity that makes two people a perfect match. She reached out to him about me… but in true modern-romance fashion, it was me who officially made the first move by sliding into his Facebook DMs. (A bold choice that has aged extremely well.) We started spending time together “just as friends,” which quickly became real friendship; the kind that makes you lose track of time and wonder when exactly this person became so important. About a year later, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and our little journey began. Over the next four years, we built a life full of laughter, love, adventure, and more dog hair than I will ever admit. Several months before the big question, he asked me to move in with him. The first clue that we were heading somewhere wonderful. And then came the moment that changed everything: one random evening, after a beautiful day together, while I was in pajamas and absolutely NOT expecting anything dramatic, he asked me to marry him. Just the two of us, cozy in our living room with our dogs curled up nearby, simple, sweet, and absolutely perfect. I said yes to the man I love, to the life we’re building, and to every ordinary moment that somehow feels extraordinary with him. Now we’re getting ready to say “I do,” grateful for the friend who introduced us, the message that started it all, and the love that has carried us here.
