We first met during a weekend in LA for the 2012 Rose Bowl game, when Madison was 15 and Skylar was 16. We shared an unforgettable early adventure, sneaking into the Staples Center after spending the whole night at the ESPN Zone to catch the end of a Clippers game. For over a decade, life took us on different paths until fate—and a football weekend—brought us back together. Madison's dad, Rob, came to Dallas before going to watch the Ducks play Texas Tech in Lubbock. Rob made plans to golf with Skylar's dad, Matt, and Skylar tagged along. The four of us spent the day playing golf (complete with a golf cart crash), and ended the night with a Frisco Roughriders game. The next day, it was the trip to Lubbock that truly ignited the spark. After the Ducks beat Tech, we spent a legendary night at Crickets celebrating and tearing up the dancefloor with our dads, and from that moment on, we couldn't stop finding excuses to hang out, even if it meant doing nothing at all. After many months and countless “nothing at all” hangouts, the Rangers had won the World Series and Madison played hooky from work to join Skylar at the parade. Seeing her celebrate life with such joy, Skylar knew she was the one for him. For Madison, the moment came around Christmas time. Madison and Skylar spent a couple weeks a part to celebrate the holiday's with their families and she knew she never wanted to spend that much time away from him again. Madison said, "I love you," on New Year's 2024, solidifying their future. The future truly began when Skylar called Rob seeking his blessing for Madison's hand in marriage (a call Rob hilariously followed up on to make sure he officially said "yes!"). Skylar planned a surprise ending to their typical monthly date night, setting up easels for them to paint portraits of each other. When Skylar revealed his canvas, it didn't hold a portrait—it held the question: "Will you marry me?" She said yes only to be surprised once more when Skylar brought her to a secret gathering where loved ones from both families were waiting to celebrate! That night, our families started to become one, and we can't wait to enjoy the day with everyone when it finally does.
