After seeing each other’s Bumble profiles and deciding we’d like to go on a date, Charlie and I decided to meet up at a brewery in St. Pete. Charlie was there living on and fixing up a sailboat, and I was on a nursing travel assignment downtown. Neither of us were too focused on work :) I tried to outdrink him in Irish ciders that night and obviously failed, however we had a good old time and the rest is history!
Charlie, Killian, and I were spending a couple weeks in Point Lookout, NY. We were supposed to have “family night” down the street at his uncle’s fishing station and tiki bar, Ted’s. It was pouring rain but apparently family night was something that happened yearly. We got to Ted’s (in my comfiest, rainy day clothes) and Charlie headed down to the dock to fish. Meanwhile his family and I were having pizza and wine up at the tiki bar. Charlie ran up and said I’ve GOT to reel in his catch—it must be something big. I go down the dock, running at his insistence, and he hands me the fishing pole. It felt either super heavy or snagged, so I turned to Charlie for help, when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said YES! And we celebrated with family and friends at Ted’s. Charlie and I then put Killian to sleep and headed back to the dock, just the 2 of us, for a beautiful, post-rain sunset. We popped a bottle of champagne, enjoyed our time together, and called our parents to share the wonderful news.
