How We Met

Accidental run-in

We met on accident while we were both working in the Republic Centre, downtown Chattanooga. He was moving offices up to my floor and my colleagues and I were curious as to who was moving in. I was nominated to take a tour of this new office. I assumed no one was in the office, but Justin popped out his head and I introduced myself. We talked the whole rest of the day and eventually exchanged numbers. Our first date was at Tremont Tavern where we watched The Red Sox and the Astros in the playoffs. After that date, we knew we were supposed to be together. We have 3 dogs, Rainey, Remington, and Bowie, and 1 Sphynx cat, Niles

How He Asked

4 years and 3 dogs later...

Justin has a side hustle photography/painting business. During the first of February 2020, he had mentioned to me that St. Paul's Episcopal Church wanted to commission him for photos of their church. We usually go on his photography adventures together, so I was not surprised when he asked me to go with him to take pictures later that week. On Friday, February 7, we had a long-overdue date night planned, and he insisted that we go to this church before dinner. Since it was a little too dark outside, I was thinking that any pictures taken were going to be pointless! We get to the church and he asked me to stand in front of a specific light and blamed it on "wanting to see the silhouette." Much to my surprise, he went down on one knee, behind me, and shouted my nickname, Mads. I turned around and he proposed. He also had our best friends hiding in the bushes taking pictures!
